An offence under Section 467 IPC (Forgery of a valuable security, will, etc.) is tried by a First Class Magistrate's Court, not a Sessions Court, even though the punishment can be imprisonment for life. While the sentence itself can be severe, the trial is designated for a Magistrate's court as per the Code of Criminal Procedure's provisions for such offenses.
