Deletion of spouse name mandatory after divorce to travel.

Hi, I am an Indian woman and recently divorced. My company is sending me to US for short term one month business visa.? My question is that before applying for visa to US... Do I need to delete my ex spouse name from the passport or it doesn't make any difference... I have to go urgently so can not afford to wait for reissue of passport. My maiden name and name after marriage is same so no name change issue. In visa application I will fill marital status as divorced.. The only concern is that Is the deletion of spouse name after divorce mandatory.. If yes than how many days process it is for reissue of passport.
