CPF & EPF

I was working in PSU Corporation and have been terminated in 2015. Against termination I filed WP & it is pending. I have not claimed any terminal benefits including CPF. When I got a job in private company they asked me join in EPF. Pl clarify whether i can enrol in EPF as I have not closed earlier CPF account? if I join whether it will have any impact on the outcome of WP& my terminal benefits
