Complain Against The Insurance Company

Okay so here is the situation. I lost my motorcycle on 28/6/2016 and informed the insurance company on the very next day (29/6/2016). Also I went to the local police station on the same day and lodged an FIR and I intimated to the RTO also. The Insurance company had assigned an investigation officer who called my within two days and asked me to be ready with my Smart Card, Tax Token, Bike keys, Policy copy, purchase invoice, challan, intimation letter to RTO, written statement to the insurance company, cancelled cheque, FIR copy and voter card, PAN card. The investigation officer came on 6/7/2016 and did his investigation and took all the documents from me (Some were original copies, others were xerox copies). A few days later, I went to online to check the claim status. It showed claim under review as insurance company is waiting for the documents. I was quite surprised and I got in touch with the investigation officer. He said he had already submitted all the documents to the insurance company. Then I sent an email to the insurance company asking them about this issue. At first they told me they didn't receive any documents. Then I received an email from them on 2/8/2016 asking me to submit additional documents within 15days time. And the additional documents are as follows: 1. Letter intimating the manufacturer about the theft. 2. Letter intimating theft to NCRB. 3. Acknowledge copy of FIR 4. Form 26, 28, 29, 30 duly signed by the insured 5. Final report from the court 6. Vehicle Non-Possession letter from the financer. 7. NTOC and form 35 duly signed by the financer. 8. EMI statement from the financer. 9. Ninancer bank details for NEFT Now when I spoke to the claim investigation officer, he never asked me to submit these documents (apart from the FIR which I already submitted). Now the insurance company sent me email and asking me submit all these documents within just 15days which they also know is not possible. First of all, many of them I don't know like what are form 26, 28, 29 and 30 and where would get them from, what us NCRB, and what do I need to write to the manufacturer and NCRB. And most importantly the final report. I went to the police station and they told me they can't give their final report before 6months and to be honest, they are very rude and don't seem helpful at all. I also let the insurance company know about the situation. They have clearly told me that the timely filing to submit all the documents are 90days from the date of the accident. Let say i arrange all other additional documents before 90days. But what's gonna happen with the most important document, the final report. That means, by the time I get the final report from the police, that would be more than 90days and the insurance company will get a chance to reject my claim for untimely manner. In the mean while, I need to keep paying my monthly EMIs to the bank as they told me they have nothing to do with this incident. Can you imagine my situation. There are ninety percent chance to get my claim rejected and I have to close my EMIs by my own. That's not possible. I can't keep paying just like this. So what's the point of buying an insurance if that insurance doesn't protect you. Now the situation is like I cant even buy another motorcycle because I need to pay my present EMIs and there is no surity I will get paid by the insurance company. I feel helpless and cheated.

Record all calls.

Write ( under proper acknowledgment) to insurer to send all forms that were not asked by investigation officer.

Explain that you will initiate after reciept of forms and it may not be possible to submit in 15days.

Inform one and all and submit the copies under proper acknowledgment.

After stipulated time apply for Not-Traceable report from police.

In some cities there are Suvidha Centers and againsta  nominal fee certificates are provided.

If you are unable to handle entrust to your able counsel specializing in consumer/such matters.
