Dear All,
I am a Christian man who married a Hindu woman in 2006. We married in a temple and then registered our marriage under Hindu Marriage Act. While the registration, without my awareness, my religion was mentioned as Hindu which is not true. We moved to UAE in 2011. Since December 2013 we are not living together.Then she filed a case against me for maintenance which I lost int he UAE court. I paid her the money but now I am asked to pay her monthly maintenance by the court and when I am asking her to give me divorce instead, she is denying the same. I would like to know following:
- Do we have to submit any certificate of me being hindu while getting married under Hindu Marriage act.? As this was not done as I was still Christian when I married in the temple and during registration as well.
- Is our marriage truly valid as per Indian Law as we are not in the same religion.
- What are my rights in case I file for divorce in India - though she living in UAE. We do not have kids also
- How can I really get out of this relationship and start a life without any such troubles and tortures.
