Change in inheritance law giving only male children rights?

I was informed by a lawyer that there is a change in property inheritance giving rights only to male children. Apparently this has been upheld in Supreme court judgements. Is that correct?

Typically in Indian custom the  women are compensated with movable assets at time of their marriage and they do not participate in the financial affairs of thier parents house post marriage. So giving them a share in the property would be giving them a double share- and I have seen this happen repeatedly.

So I would like to know if there are any Supreme court judgements giving male children sole rights on property.

tks

Dear querist,

As per my understating and knowledge there is no judgment as such, moreover everything depend upon merits of each case.

After The Hindu Succession (Amendment) Act, 2005 daughter stands at equal footing as son.
