An insurance inspector posted at the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) here has been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a complainant. “The CBI laid a trap and the accused inspector Om Prakash was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant,” a CBI spokesperson said here today.

He was produced before a designated court here today which remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days, he said. Earlier, the complainant alleged the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 85,000 for not filing an adverse comment in the Inspection Report after inspecting the records of his firm.

Following this, a trap was laid and Prakash was caught red handed while accepting Rs 15,000 as bribe, the spokesperson said. The searches at his residential premises led to the recovery of incriminating documents, he said.
