Cancelled sale deeds by district registrar in chennai

Learned Sirs,

The Hon'ble High Court has held that the District Registrars cannot cancel sale deeds under section 77A of the Registration Act.

However before this Judgement was passed many sale deeds have been cancelled and the certified copy shows them as cancelled so does the entry in the EC.

What is the stand on these cancelled Sale Deeds. Will the cancellation be automatically removed by the Registration Department? or do i have to approach the Hon'ble High Court by filing a writ askin the registratioin department to remove the cancellation text from the certified copies and EC.

Please Advice

If the ruling is prospective then it will be a waste exercise to approach high court with writ petition or any other case in this regard.

Hence you may go through the rule/law and be confirmed about the law that whether it was prospective or retrospective  and decide further course of action.
