Can tenant claim property ownership

Sir,

We have given a house to rent with out any agreement.

can they claim ownership of the house.

they are paying rent through cash and we have not issued any receipt.

As they are paying the electricity bill they are having electricity bills as proofs but as the water bill is shared among tenants we are paying the water bill.

thanks

santosh

not sure if they can..but you are only inviting more trouble here from a legal perspective.

why there is no legal agreement in the first place...?
EB card is on whose name...who pays the bill doesnt matter here..
get receipts for the rent.

get into a legal agreement at the earliest and start issuing receipts for rent...and you will be covered by the law and then there is nothing to worry about.
