Can cardinal (Arch Bishop) clam a privilege in India

Ernakulam Arch Bishop claimed that he has special privilege over civil law .He has to obay "Canon Law " .ls it true .Canon Law has any validity in lndia according to constitutional law

Canon law is a voluntary law. It is up to the person to obey it or not. But if it conflicts with another person's rights and privileges, the law of the land will prevail.
