Agriculture land

Dear Sirs ,

I would like to seek your guidance for the below ,

In Maharashtra if a non farmer wants to buy a farm land/Agriculture land for agriculture purpose is it possible ,

No , in maharashtra it is not possible , in maharashtra only a farmer can purchase an agriculture land .

But this means Maharashtra dosnt want to promote farming ??

Even Karnataka has such rule.
