In a shocking incident, three Class V students from a village in Harayana’s Jhajjar district, allegedly molested a four-year-old girl, studying in Class 1 of the same school. The accused, all 10-year-olds, were produced in court on Thursday and released on bail.
A stunned education department promptly suspended two lady teachers, including the school in-charge, accusing them of negligent behaviour.
A police case was filed after the victim’s family held a protest outside the school and locked the gates. They demanded suspension of teachers who failed to rescue the victim despite being approached for help. The police, who rushed to the Kharhar along with some senior education department officials, had to escort the school staff out of the premises.
In his complaint to the cops the previous day, the victim’s father had accused the three schoolboys of taking his daughter to an isolated corner and touching her inappropriately. When she raised an alarm, her sister, who studies in Class IV, first tried to help her and then ran to the teachers sitting in a room nearby. Strangely, instead of giving in to her pleas, they (teachers) told her to go to her class in-charge who was not present in school at that time, he said.
