Is registration of a law firm (proprietorship) is required under the service tax law? should it be registered with the registrar of firms and societies also? what is the best way to start a law firm in sole proprietorship?

There is no provision for Registration of a proprietorship. A proprietorship is strictly in a legal sense is not a 'Firm'. Firm denotes a partnership.
Put an Advocate's Board in front of your office and start practising. There is no formal requirement to start a sole proprietorship.
ALL THE BESTS.

The proprietor can open a bank account in the name of his law firm. No difficulty in it.
