Stay of lower court proceedings by high court

Sirs & madams,
Kindly, guide me once stay of lower court proceedings by high court how long stay will be there in high court because I am not in position to appear there. will my case stay forever or time bound or stay means closing of case forever.

Stay is generally given for a specified period of time or till disposal of Revision or Appeal wherein it is granted.
