Eligibility for being a-o-r in supreme court of india

What is the criteria to become eligible for being Advocate on Record at Supreme Court of India? Whether any examination hs to be passed? Whether experience of advocacy is essential and if then of how many years? Whether one has to register at Supreme Court Bar for being an A-O-R? Kindly guide.

Dear Mr. Adil Rahman,
After 4 years of enrolment as an Advocate, one has to undergo one year training under an AOR, before being eligible to sit for the AOR's Examination being conducted by the Supreme Court. That means it is a 5 year gestation period before one Advocate can think of sitting in the AOR Examination.

Please also note, there is a challenge to the AOR Examination being conducted by Supreme Court. Recently the Supreme Court has issued notice in SLP (C)No. 13537/ 2012 filed by the Supreme Court Advocates Association (SCAA) against the decision of the Delhi High Court challenging the Advocate on Record (AoR) system. This move may well cast a shadow over the continuance of the AoR system. We have to wait and watch the outcome.
