Dear Mr. G.S.Ravichandran,

1. Yes, a E.C. is sufficient evidence of the title of ownership and the sale made. Get a certified true copy of such sale deed from the sub-registrar where such original sale deed was registered. This will be enough evidence for you to sell such property which you have had purchased in 1987.

It is to be Noted that Advocates who are Directors in A Public Limited Company and Preparing Assessment Reports of Companies worth Rs.2500 Crores for their own company should intimate about the Termination of their Practice to Bar Council.Better do it immediately Please. This is exclusively to above Expert Please.

If your ownership has not been challenged since last more than 27 years then there seems lesser possibility of challenge to it till next 3 years.

Though even if the certified/attested basic/original title deed i obtained by you even then the chain of the legal heirs of the deceased original owner is difficult to be established hence it is sufficient to get the EC from the civil lawyer dealing in the property matters and get the desired relief.
