The Bombay High Court Has Ordered The State To Investigate How Celebrities And Politicians Obtained COVID Drugs 

After observing differences in the Drug Inspector's statements, the Bombay High Court on Thursday urged the State not to abandon its investigation into the private distribution of Remdesivir injections by politicians and celebrities.

While manufacturers appear to have told the Union of India that they only delivered Remdesivir to the government, the Sonu Sood Foundation's response to the Drug Inspector's notice revealed that they had contacted manufacturers and delivered specific medications, according to the court.

12-year-old pleas in Delhi High Court to vaccinate children between 12-17 years 

A 12-year-old has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court requesting orders to vaccinate youngsters aged 12 to 17 in Delhi immediately, as well as to prioritise vaccination among parents with children under the age of 17. Tia Gupta (12 years old) and her mother have filed a petition with Advocates Bihu Sharma and Abhinav Mukerji, asking for the formulation of a comprehensive National Plan for Children, which would encompass all elements of their protection from the impacts of the covid 19 pandemic.

Disturb sleep will amount to torture: Ban the use of loudspeakers for religious recitals 

The petition referenced a ruling in Afzal Ansari v. State of Uttar Pradesh, in which the High Court declared that the recitation of Azaan through loudspeakers is not an intrinsic element of Islam. In Uttar Pradesh, a plea has been filed with the Allahabad High Court to prohibit the use of sound amplification devices for religious recitation and calls to prayer in temples, mosques, and churches.

The defamatory suit filed against Kamaal R Khan filed by Salman Khan 

On Thursday, actor Kamaal R Khan (KRK) told the Bombay City Civil Court that he will refrain from making any defamatory remarks about Bollywood superstar Salman Khan till the defamation complaint Khan filed is heard again. Khan and his firm, Salman Khan Ventures Private Limited, filed the lawsuit in order to prevent KRK from recording and uploading videos, blogging, tweeting, or publishing any defamatory materials about Khan, his business ventures, or their films/projects, including the most recent feature, 'Radhe.'

Problems at Dr B.R. Ambdekar NLU in Sonepat, including boycotts, resignations, and unresolved grievances 

Dr B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat (DBRANLU) students have been fighting a losing battle. They planned to boycott lessons in the last week of April. This decision was made because, according to the students, the University was not acknowledging any of their issues. 

The four-class representatives of the Batch of 2024, the University's senior-most batch, had resigned just days before the boycott. In the discussion, students expressed a variety of complaints, including non-publication of results, infrastructure challenges, ad-hoc faculty and their quality, and a lack of reaction to student communication, among others.

The Allahabad High Court has granted protection to a woman who converted from Islam to Hinduism and married according to Hindu customs. 

The court ordered the Meerut Senior Superintendent of Police to guarantee that the woman and her husband are not harmed by any member of her family, her home community, or the local police.

The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday ordered that a lady who converted from Islam to Hinduism and married according to Hindu ceremonies be protected by the police. After the woman complained about threats from her father, who objected to her conversion and marriage, the order was passed.

What do you think about this case?

To be eligible for bail on the grounds of delay, a criminal appeal must have been pending for at least 5 years: High Court of Jammu and Kashmir 

The appeal was brought in order to obtain a stay of execution and a grant of bail for the applicant/appellant, who had spent more than thirteen years in prison.

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court recently ruled that a plea seeking a stay of execution and grant of bail based on a delay in the completion of the trial or the disposition of an appeal in the case can be heard only if the criminal appeal has been pending for more than five years (Raghubir Singh V/s UT of J&K).

Matrix Cellular violating an order not to raise prices: Delhi High Court 

The Court further noted that there appeared to be no wrongdoing on the part of the Delhi Police when they confiscated the oxygen concentrators in the current case at a time when the State was in desperate need of them.
