Chhatrasal Stadium Murder Case: Delhi Court Remands Wrestler Sushil Kumar And His Associate To 6 Days Police Custody

On Sunday, a Delhi court sentenced wrestler Sushil Kumar and his associate, Ajay Kumar, to six days in police custody after they were arrested in connection with the murder of former junior national wrestling champion Sagar Dhankhar at the Chhatrasal Stadium.

After hearing Delhi Police's plea for a 12-day police custody remand of both accused persons, Duty Metropolitan Magistrate Divya Malhotra issued the order.

Sushil Kumar was represented by Advocate Satwik Misra, while the prosecution was represented by Additional Public Prosecutor Atul Shrivastava.

Doctrine Of Impossibility Applicable To Court Orders; Possibility Of Implementation Should Be Considered: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court on Friday stayed the directions given by the Allahabad High Court on May 17 for up-gradation of medical facilities in the state of Uttar Pradesh on a war-scale basis, stating that "the doctrine of impossibility is applicable to Court orders as well."

The Court went on to say that the "Doctrine of Impossibility" applied similarly to court orders. It was also noted that High Courts should generally refrain from issuing directions on matters with transnational and international implications, especially when such matters at the national level were being considered by the Supreme Court in separate proceedings.

Swapnila S Sakhalkar). Swapnil Sakhalkar was charged in 2015 with reckless driving and grievously injuring the plaintiff Apeksha. The plaintiff was heading to her office when she was hit by a four-wheeler from behind.

Justice Jasgurpreet Singh Puri issued the order in response to a petition filed by an interfaith couple seeking defence.

In Farzana Begum @ Aman v. the State of Punjab, the Punjab and Haryana High Court ruled that a disagreement over the legitimacy of a marriage cannot be used to deny immunity to a couple facing threats from relatives who oppose the marriage. Justice Jasgurpreet Singh Puri issued the order in response to a petition filed by an interfaith couple seeking defence.

“The scope of the present petition is limited to the petitioners' defence of life and liberty, and the validity of the marriage cannot be used as a basis for denying such protection,” the Court noted.
