Lakshadweep Administration Order Banning Meat Stayed by Kerala High Court

The two controversial orders passed by the Lakshadweep Administrator, Praful Khoda Patel have been stayed by the Kerala High Court. The first order directed the closure of dairy farms and the second order sought to bring changes in the diet for school kids by removing the consumption of meat in midday meals. A PIL was filed by Ajmel Ahmed, who is a lawyer and a resident of Lakshadweep. The matter was heard by the Division Bench consisting of Justice Shaji P Chaly and Chief Justice S Manikumar.

Delhi HC: Justice Bhambhani Recuses From Hearing Challenge To IT Rules

Justice Anup Bhambhani has recused himself from hearing pleas made by the digital media houses of The Quint, The Wire, and others which challenge the constitutional validity of the Information Technology (Guidelines for Intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. The petitions were to be heard by the Vacation Bench of the Delhi High Court consisting of Justice Bhambani and Justice Jasmeet Singh.

Akhil Gogoi Discharged By NIA Court

The Special NIA Court in Guwahati has decided to discharge the Raijor Dal Chief, Akhil Gogoi, who was involved in the Chabua Case. The order was given by the Special NIA judge, Justice Pranjal Das. Co-accused Jagjit Gohain and Bhupen Gogoi were also discharged. The court has also referred to the Delhi High Court judgement in Asif Iqbal Tanha vs. State of NCT of Delhi. It was stated that the materials required to attribute the act to an act of terrorism were inadequate.

CBSE, ICSE Policy Upheld By Supreme Court 

The petitions were heard by the the Bench of Justice A M Khanwilkar and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari. The Bench heard pleas challenging the CBSE assessment policy and the petition to cancel the exams. In the decision given by the Court, the CBSE assessment policy was upheld and justified, and the petitions challenging them were dismissed. It was also held that there cannot be one uniform assessment policy for all the boards as they are autonomous in nature.

Allahabad HC: Notice Issued On Pleas Against Demolition Of Gareeb Nawaz Mosque

The Allahabad High Court has issued a notice with regards to the Gareeb Nawaz Al Maroof Mosque Demolition Case. The mosque is located in the town of Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh. The writ petition had been filed by the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Waqf Board which had challenged the demolition of the mosque. The matter has been heard by the Bench of Justice Saurabh Lavania and Justice Rajan Roy. Questions regarding the existence of the mosque on public land have been raised.
