SC: Default Sentences Cannot Be Directed To Run Concurrently
As observed by the Supreme Court of India, default sentences imposed on a convict cannot be directed to run concurrently. The case was of Dumya Alias Lakhan Alias Inamdar v. State of Maharashtra. The decision was given by Justices UU Lalit and Ajay Rastogi. Advocate Pravin Sataleappeared for the appellants and Advocate Rahul Chitnisappeared for the state.

The Supreme Court has opined that a timely filing of tax revenue related matters is the need of the hour and has called for an E-System to track revenue litigation. SC Dismisses Plea Of MBBS Students Admitted Through Private Counselling
The Supreme Court has dismissed the pleas filed by the MBBS students who took admission through private counselling. The bench of Justices L. Nageswara Rao, BR Gavai and Krishna Murari observed that the medical admissions conducted through the private counselling are illegal and no sympathy is to be shown to students who have entered the institution through the ‘back door’.

SC Closes Plea Against Animal Killing For Crop Protection/Religious Sacrifices
The Supreme Court has dismissed the pleas raising concern over slaughter of cows, poaching of elephants, killing of wild animals for crop protection and animal sacrifices in religious practices. The step was taken by the Bench of Justice Dinesh Maheshwari and Justice S K Kaul. The Supreme Court said that the issue is an aspect of enforcement and it is for the Executive to take appropriate action to see that the intent of the Legislature is implemented.

A three member commission was appointed by the Supreme Court to probe into the encounter of gangster Vikas Dubey. It has been stated that no suspicion or doubt has arisen about the police version of the encounter.The report of the probe panel led by its Chairman, Dr. Justice B S Chauhan was tabled before the Uttar Pradesh State Assembly. Retired Allahabad High Court judge, Justice Shashi Kant Agarwal and former UP Director General of Police, K. L. Gupta are also its members.
