Man Blames Wife For Instigating Him For Not Wearing Mask; Couple Sent To Jail

This week, on Monday a Delhi couple who refused to wear masks and allegedly misbehaved with police in Daryaganj area have been sent to jail after their bail plea was dismissed by a local Court. After their arrest, when questioned the couple blamed each other for their behavior. Pankaj (husband) answered saying he had been fighting with his wife in the car after she refused to wear a mask. He even went on further to claim that his wife did not allow him to wear his mask. In regards of the wife she has blamed her husband for misbehaving with cops saying she was in a bad mood after a fight with him.

The couple has been charged under sections 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) 186 (Whoever voluntarily obstructs any public servant in the discharge of his public functions), 353/269/34 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other sections of Delhi Disaster Management Act. 

Delhi HC: Dismisses WhatsApp, Facebook's Challenge To CCI Order For Probe On New Privacy Policy

Earlier this week, on 22nd April, 2021 Justice Navin Chawla of the Delhi High Court rejected Facebook Inc and its subsidiary WhatsApp's challenge to an order by the Competition Commission of India directing a probe into WhatsApp's new privacy policy for being allegedly anti-competitive. The court said it found no merits in the petition and refused to quash the CCI probe

Sr. Adv. Harish Salve for WhatsApp added that there was no addition to the old policy and that the new policy was brought out purely for business and commercial users, to enable them to "use WhatsApp in a particular way. ASG Aman Lekhi for CCI "Using this data, they will eventually either buy-out the competition or make it irrelevant. Facebook comes into the picture because of the privacy policy through which data collection is happening."

SC Issues Notice To Centre, States, UTs & Parties Before HCs: Questions as to Why Uniform Orders Not Be Passed By Supreme Court In COVID Related Issues

This week, the the Supreme Court has issued notice to Centre, State Governments, Union Territories and the parties who have approached the High Courts to show-cause why uniform orders not be passed by the Supreme Court in COVID-19 related issues like a) Supply of oxygen; b) Supply of essential drugs; c) Method and manner of vaccination; and d) Declaration of lockdown"

Supreme Court observed that the orders passed by various High Courts "may have the effect of accelerating and prioritising the services to a certain set of people and slowing down the availability of these resources to certain other groups whether the groups are local, regional or otherwise".

Supreme Court Seeks Independent Inquiry into the Tragic Nashik Oxygen Leak Case, Which Claimed 24 Lives

Recently, A PIL has been filed before the Supreme Court seeking an independent judicial enquiry into the tragic Nashik oxygen leak case that consumed the lives of about 24 patients on the 21st of April, 21. This PIL petition has been filed by a Mumbai based NGO, Save Them India Foundation through Advocate Vishal Tiwari after a leak in the main medical oxygen tank disrupted the supply of the gas at Dr. Zakir Hussain Hospital in Maharashtra's Nashik on Wednesday.

The State attribute the leak to a valve malfunction and a high-level inquiry has been ordered to ascertain if there was any negligence on part of the hospital administration as the said incident is a violation of fundamental rights of the citizens of this country prima facie the right to health care right to life enshrined under Article 21 of the Constitution of India said the Petitioner.

Tiktok sued over Children’s Data concerns

Recently, Tiktok is being sued for billions of pounds over allegations the video-sharing app illegally harvested the private data of millions of European children. The suit, which is being heard in the HC, is calling for the company to delete all children’s personal information & seeking billions of pounds in damages. Tiktok, which is owned by Chinese tech firm Bytedance, said: “We believe the claims lack merit & intend to vigorously defend the action”

Ex-Children’s Commissioner for England Anne Longfield, alleges that every child that has used Tiktok since 25 May 2018 may have had personal information collected for the benefit of unknown third parties. “Parents & children have a right to know that private information, including phone numbers, physical location, & videos of their children are being illegally collected".
