Ministry of railways have announced that the passenger trains will resume its services gradually from 12th May. There will be 15 trains from New Delhi station, which will connect to 15 important cities of the country. The reservation of tickets for these trains will be made available only on IRCTC website, and will start from 11th May, 4pm.

All the coaches of these passenger trains will be AC coaches, with limited stoppages. The ticket fares will be equivalent to the fare of Rajdhani AC train. Ticket booking counters will remain closed and no counter tickets will be issued, including the platform tickets. Only the passengers with confirmed ticket will be allowed to enter the railway station.

The passengers will have to mandatorily wear masks and undergo screening before entering the station. Only the asymptomatic passengers will be allowed to travel on these trains. 

The Ministry has also stated that more special trains will be made available on new routes. It will be based on the availability of coaches after reserving 20,000 coaches for COVID-19 care centers. Coaches will be reserved to enable operation of up to 300 trains every day for stranded migrants. Details regarding train schedule and other things will be issued in due course.
