Parliamentary Standing Committee on Food and Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution has invited views and suggestions from the public in general, associations, institutions, experts and NGO working in the field of standardization regarding Bureau of Indian Standards (Amendment) Bill, 2012.

 

The Bill referred to committee for examination and report to Parliament, proposes to amend the Bureau of Indian Standards Act(BIS), 1986 to empower the Central Government, to notify any article or process which shall confirm to the Indian Standard and direct registration or grant self declaration of conformity with the BIS as compulsory. Also it seeks to empower the Central Government to make rules to provide for the manner of compounding of offences and making application therefor, etc.
