The Supreme Court Advocates on Record Association has introduced a new Financial Assistance Scheme for the difficult time of COVID19. The scheme is a one-time ex-gratia amount of Rs. 10,000 and is available for the period of 18th May to 31st May.The scheme was announced by the Executive Committee in a virtual meeting.

The benefit under this scheme can be availed by Advocate on Record and the Advocates, who are on the voters list of Supreme Court Bar Association. Along with this, the advocates in dire need of financial help, can also avail benefit under special categories of the scheme.

The procedure to get the benefit under is to secure a declaration, mentioning their AoR code or SCBA membership number, along with an application showing a financial emergency due to hardships faced due to lockdown amid COVID19. The Advocates having an annual income of less than Rs. 8 lakhs, are only eligible to become a beneficiary under the scheme. The Advocates, to avail benefit, should not have received benefit from any other scheme by any Bar Association on the same ground.

The application will be scrutinized by the Executive Committee of SCAORA and the money will be transferred from the SCAORA Welfare Trust. SCAORA has assured that the identity of people availing benefit under this scheme will remain confidential.
