DDA alots land in Dwarka for Law college The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) today told the Delhi High Court that a plot measuring 8000 sq meter has been allotted in Dwarka for the law college campus no II. Stating before a bench comprising Justices T S Thakur and Siddharth Mridul, lawyer for the DDA Rajiv Bansal said they have identified a plot measuring 8000 sq meters in sector 22 of Dwarka to set up the law college centre II for the students. Mr Mohinder Rupal, lawyer for the Delhi University said the University Grants Commission has already granted them Rs 12 crores for the project and the next instalment of Rs 12 crores will be released only after DDA hands over the possession of land to them. DDA has also allotted land to the law college to open their centre in Surajmal Vihar. Acting on a petition filed by Mr S N Singh, dean of the Law Faculty, the bench had directed DDA to alot a land for the law centre. The petitioner stated that they have no space to accommodate the students pursuing law from the Delhi University. They demanded that a plot should be allotted to them to construct the law centre II and III. Presntly only small space is available in Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College in South Campus. This is a rented space and not adequate for the growing demands, the petitioner said. DDA lawyer told the court that a decision has been taken by the Vice Chairman of DDA to alot the land to the Delhi Law College to set up its centres. All formalities to identify the land have been completed. Mr Bansal said only formalities like the plot has to shown as law college in the map of Dwarka and other formalities of steering committee, technical committee have to be completed. The bench directed DDA to complete all formalities regarding the alotment of plot within six-eight weeks and file their report in the court on August 11. UNI
