OVERVIEW

A video has gone viral in which a Muslim teenage boy has been seen to be desecrating the premises and entering the temple to drink water from inside the temple in the Dasna area of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. Such event has struck a communal discord amongst the Hindus and Muslims residing in the area. It was viewed as an act of Muslims disrespecting the Hindu temples. Such boy has been reported to be thrashed and battered by one Shringi Yadav. He claimed that the boy had urinated on the Shivling in such temple.

Shringi Yadav was arrested in connection with the alleged assault on the ‘minor’ Muslim youth Asif, has been granted bail three days after the Ghaziabad police detained him.

CONTENTION OF THE ALLEGED ASSAULTER

Shringi Yadav, the person who was arrested for allegedly thrashing the minor boy is now being portrayed as the ‘mascot of hatred’ by the ‘left-liberal’ media. In a conversation with Sudarshan TV, he dismissed all such claims of the Muslim boy being targeted inside the temple for drinking water. He further claimed that the boy, Asif was found to be urinating on the Shivling inside the Dasna Devi temple.

Shringi reportedly maintained that Asif had entered the temple with his friend, another Muslim youth who, to his recollection, was wearing a skull cap and was behaving indecently and unzipped his pants in the presence of a few women worshippers.

Yadav invalidated the logic of the boy entering the temple to drink water. According to his statement, “there are more than 50 handpumps installed in the surrounding areas near the Dasna temple, and there is a tap around the corner. If someone were thirsty, he would have used the handpump. What was he doing near Shivling?”  He recounted the history of Muslims residents repeatedly harassing the Hindus. “A few days ago, a few Muslims from Darul Uloom Deoband had entered the temple premises in disguise. However, they were caught and asked not to enter the Hindu temple by the Yati himself,” he stated.

CONTENTION OF THE TEMPLE MANAGEMENT

The Head Priest at the temple, Yati Narasinhanand Saraswati claimed “This has been a pattern for a few years now. These people (Muslims) are often caught vandalising inside the premises. They have been caught urinating on the idols and even letting their domestic animals defecate inside the sanctuaries. They are also caught stealing steel pipes and other things from the compound. He (Asif) was also found stealing something. The story that he was in the temple for drinking water is simply hogwash. He is not the only one. There are at least 50 Muslims like him who enters the temple compound intending to steal valuables. When they are caught, they claim innocence by claiming they were in the compound for drinking water.”

The pandit further contended that male inhabitants belonging to other communities and religions enter temple premises during day hours for recce purposes so that they can carry out robberies later in the night. He cited 4 such instances of dacoities where the valuables had been stolen from the temple compound.

He contemplated that, owing to the fact that the majority of population, around 95%, in the area were Muslims, any complaints lodged for such theft or harassment against them would be mitigated by the support of their community.
Mahant Yati Narasinhanand Saraswati asserted that the temple, being private property and not public property, the management body reserves the right of entry, and might bar the entry of journalists and government officials if they belong to the Muslim community.

CONCLUSION

The Muslim-dominated region of Dasna in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh has been facing a controversy regarding communal disharmony when a teenage Muslim boy was reportedly found to be urinanting on the Shivling at the Shiva-Shakti temple.
Mahant Yati Narasimhanand Saraswati, who has been a Mahant there for around 15 years remarked on such situation, “Is our God there so that his ‘children’ would come and urinate?”

He went on to accuse the police of not understanding the plight of the Hindus and reminded them of the 4 instances of robbery which were not taken into consideration by them. According to him, “people are facing hell every day, there is a difference between feeling it and expressing sympathy from afar.”
