Motor Accident Claim Petition Does Not Abate On Death Of Injured Claimant

The Supreme Court observed that a motor accident claim petition does not abate even after the death of the injured claimant. The right to sue survive to his heirs and legal representatives in so far as loss to the estate is concerned. The decision was given by the bench comprising of Justice Navin Sinha and Justice R Subhash Reddy. The case was of Oriental Insurance Company Limited v. Kahlon @ Jasmail Singh Kahlon (deceased).

Kerala High Court Upholds Right To Privacy Of Single Mothers

A plea has been filed before the Kerala High Court challenging the Kerala Registration of Births and Deaths Rules insofar as it mandates the mention of father's name to register a child's birth. The case in a nutshell is that such a stipulation is discriminatory to single mothers. The Court opined that the time has come to develop schemes to support single mothers. The decision was given by Justices A Muhamed Mustaque and Dr Kauser Edappagath.

The Supreme Court has decided to hear a plea filed by the NGO Common Cause challenging retrospective extension of ED Director Sanjay Kumar. The decision was given by the Division Bench comprising of Justice Nageswara Rao and Justice BR Gavai. The case is of Case Title: Common Cause v. Union of India.

Allahabad High Court Takes Suo Motu Lawyer’s Unruly Behaviour

The Allahabad High Court today took suo motu cognizance of the unruly behavior of the lawyers during the election of Awadh Bar Association which was scheduled on August 14. The decision was taken by the Bench of Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi and Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh. The case is scheduled for hearing on August 18, 2021.

Madhya Pradesh High Court Bar Association Boycotts Justice Dubey’s Court

The Madhya Pradesh High Court Bar Association has passed a unanimous resolution calling for an indefinite boycott of the Court of Justice Rajeev Kumar. The association has requested the Advocates fraternity to not appear either physically or virtually in the Court of Justice Mr. Rajiv Kumar Dubey. The decision was also conveyed to Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court at Jabalpur.

On a wife's cruelty complaint alleging forcible intercourse, a Sessions Court at Mumbai has observed that the man's acts couldn't be considered illegal. The Additional Sessions Judge, Sanjashree Gharat, has granted anticipatory bail to a man and his family in a domestic violence case under Sections 498-A, 323, 504, 506 (II) r/w 34 of the I.P.C.
