Delhi HC: Notice Issued On Plea To Put A Stay On Movie 'Nyay:The Justice' 

An appeal was filed on behalf of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput by his father, Krishna Kishore Singh, in the Delhi High Court requesting a stay on the film ‘Nyay: The Justice’. It has been stated that the movie was released on the OTT platform Lapalap. The matter has currently been listed for further hearing. The Division Bench of the Delhi High Court consisting of Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani and Justice Jasmeet SIngh would be hearing the case.

Kerala HC: Grants Anticipatory Bail To Aisha Sulthana; Says No Motive To Subvert GOI

The Kerala High Court had granted anticipatory bail to Lakshadweep filmmaker, Aisha Sulthana regarding the case of sedition filed against her. The Court has now remarked that merely using strong speech to condemn the government, without an explicit intention to subvert the Government of India did not become a motive under Section 124A IPC. The decision was given by Justice Ashok Menon.

Calcutta HC: Voluntary Gifts Given Out Of Love To Married Couple Not Dowry

The Calcutta High reinstated that dowry as a quid pro quo for marriage was prohibited. However, gifts given to the married couple voluntarily out of love and affection were permitted. Gifts provided to the bride and groom, that were not serving as consideration for the marriage proposal, were not falling under the definition of dowry. This observation has been given by Justice Bibek Chaudhuri.

Kerala HC: Petition To Ban WhatsApp If Non-Compliance To IT Rules Continue

The petition filed in the Kerala High Court has requested the Central Government to ensure that WhatsApp complied with the newly introduced IT Rules. In case there was non-compliance on behalf of WhatsApp, the petition has requested that the application be banned. The case is Omanakuttan KG V. Union of India and Ors. The petitioner is an engineer who filed the petition after WhatsApp challenged the IT Rules, 2021 in the High Court of Delhi.

Madras HC Expresses Anguish Over Rising Cases Of Child Sexual Assault

The Madras High Court has expressed anguish towards the rising cases of sexual assault towards children by persons known to them. The Court has remarked that the rights given to a female child has always been stalked to peril. Despite having strict laws and harsh punishments for the wrongdoers, the number of such cases has increased. This observation was given by Justice K Murali Shankar. This case was regarding the assault of a minor girl by her relative. Advocate D Rameshkumar appeared from the Appellant’s side. Additional Public Prosecutor V Neelakandan was representing the State.
