What Did The Letter To Justice Chandrachud Say

  • Dr Vijay Choudhary, the Chairperson of the MP Bar Council, wrote to Justice Chandrachud citing serious concerns about the treatment of lawyers and litigants. They were also participating in video conference hearings via the Jitsi technology at the same time. He also remarked that the Court should conduct e-hearings using more user-friendly technologies such as Zoom or Webex Cisco.
  • The Jitsi platform, according to Chaudhary, was neither convenient nor user-friendly for lawyers and litigants. He further claimed that the Jitsi platform, which is currently in use by all three Benches of the High Court, had a number of technical issues, including sound echoing.
  • It was also reported that different judges have gone to different platforms by paying out of pocket to conduct proper hearings.
