SITUATION BACKGROUND
- The Calcutta High Court focused the High Court’s administration on Tuesday to instantly undertake the necessary and important measures to increase existing video conferencing services in the Courtroom of the 15th Additional District and all the courtrooms of the High Court as well as Judge in the Alipore (South 24 Parganas).
- The Court was deciding upon a plea in search of relief on the ground that the petitioner had been deprived of judicial remedies due to the absence of resourceful and competent video conferencing facilities at the Courtroom of the 15th Additional District Judge at Alipore.
RELEVANCES
- The Court had asked engaged service providers including private players for availing the 'best quality of unbuffered, uninterrupted and evenly pixelated video conference facilities' and for setting up all necessary equipment and infrastructure as required the State as well as the High Court management to.
- It was also made distinctively clear that the High Court management must not be obliged to only approach State service providers for implementing the aforementioned video conferencing facilities.
- The Court supplementarily added and ordered the necessary funds for establishing facilities of such kinds as they must be immediately expended to the Principal Secretary, Department of the Finance of the West Bengal Government.
