Your friend's father need not worry about this, he can refuse to give her any property, he can   instead transfer  the property to his son/daughter name by a conditional settlement stating that the beneficiary can take possession after his lifetime, i.e., he can retain the property till his lifetime after which the beneficiary can inherit the property.

Is the property his own or ancestral?

Fabricated facts and academic problem for consideration and advise by your tutor / coach / professor.

Your friend's father can write and register a will in favour of whom-so-ever he wants for all the assets and properties that the father has on his name and can mention in that will very specifically that the wife will not be allowed for any share in the property or assets also stating the properties which have already been given to the given.
Therefore your friend's father will have a legal backing for his property and assets and if the harassment of the wife increasing he can further move ahead for divorce on basis of cruelty.

The query suggests itself to be academic. The wife has no entitlement to the husband's property during the latter's lifetime.
