What to do to help injured on the road

What is  responsiblity of a citizen,if he/she come across an injured lying on the road either by accident or by act of crime. As is the general trend,as we saw in jaipur tunnel ,where a man along with his 3 year old son, kept begging for help, but none of the motorist stopped. As well as in delhi gangrape case, both injured person lying on the road, kept lying for an hour or so despite the fact so many passerby crossed them, and now some social experiment videos showed that people are very reluctant to get in to police "lafda",so unwilling to help.Kindly any enlighetened legal expert can guide, what to do if one come across an injured on the road.what can be done to help, without getting in to lafda.and if one get in to lafda, what is the legal way to come out of this. Thanks

Heartless in-human persons have such approach, which require the society to change their attitude and the police to amend their way to conduct inquiry of such incidents.

Of course it is a fact that people do not get involved to help the injured person lying on the road as they pass by because of the fact that the Police after noting down their address may call them after a gap of one or two years summoning them t depose evidence before the court and in the court if it is not completed on the same day, the witness will be asked to attend the court of future days too, thus even if someone want to genuinely help such people, will stay back due to such harassment.  As a citizen it is our duty to help the fellow citizen is a agreed fact, but how will somebody volunteer under such circumstance. The awareness can be created through media and other programs by the government or private NGOs. Let us hope for reforms to take place through some initiations somewhere.
