The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has released voluntary guidelines on Corporate Social Responsibility in December, 2009. These guidelines can be adopted by the Indian companies as well as foreign companies operating in India so that they can make their functioning socially and environmentally responsible. Giving this information in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, the Minister for Corporate Affairs, Shri Salman Khurshid, said that the guidelines also encourage companies to undertake activities, including in the field of health and education, for economic and social development of the communities, particularly in the vicinity of their operation.

Very good article Sir.

Actually I had a query pertaining to CSR.

I am a post graduate in Environmental Science from Mumbai University.
Currently, I am pursuing my MBA.
I have strongly decided on my career path fr d future.
I m keen on making my career in the field of CSR.
But I am being harrowed by 1 question - which specialisation should i opt for, in the likely probability, of me making my career in CSR?
I hav equal interest in OPERATIONS as well as Marketing.
Will a specialisation in Marketing help me out in my CSR career?

Or does it really matter if i specialise in any of d 2????
I am confused big time.
Should I opt for MARKETING as a specialisation or OPERATIONS?
I am really worried dese days as i have got really less time 2 decide on such a trivial issue.
Please I seek help from u....
Please bail me out.

Regards,
Nikhil

The corporates can actively participate on environments , education and on health programs in their area and can take active steps in their social responsibilty.

They can participate on their own or can sponser through NGOs

In the age of jet speed  i am afraid that we may not able to deliver a good and clean environment to the next generation  unless we constructively involve allsegments of the society including corporates

let we create a good environment in and around us and  can also agitate for awareness
