Step son troubling Step-Mother

My aunt married a man who had a six year old son from his deceased wife. He gave birth to a son in a two-three years.

Her husband never gave her any respect. He hid all important documents, transactions and information from her. He treated her more like a housemaid and caretaker than a wife. But my aunt gave all love to her step-son. She treated him like her own. But today when her husband is recovering from brain stroke, she is left with no money to run the household.

There is nothing on her name. Not even a single bank account. The only good part is that the bank requires her sign before giving any money to her two sons. However, despite of facing a very tight budget and frustrated sister-in-law, daughter-in-law and step-son she is managing to run the household with some help that was provided by the bank and some help provided by us.

But the most agonizing part is that her son has turned hostile against her. He asked her to sign on a blank check. She refused, he insisted; then we learnt that she signed a check of Rs.10, 000. But she didn't receive any amount as yet. Her step-son has kept it with him. Her son has too much affinity towards him and even accused her of being a spendthrift.

what can be done in such a situation?
