Respected Sirs,
i am from a Hindu Nair family from Kerala. we used to have a provision in the partition of our proprety that when the ancestal property (earlier in Nair;s ancestal property means from mother's side) is divided, married daughters use to get an equal share for their kids too. That means if a mother has property and she has one son and one daughter, and if the 2are married and have 2 kids each, son will get only one share but the daughter will get her share and also an equal share for her two kids also. which means son will get only one share, but daughter will get 3 shares if she has two kids. Now heard that in 70's this law has been changed and son and daughter will get the equal share, kid wont get any share. Would like to know the exact extract of this law and when this law has been amended.
