Property litigation by daughters

Hi,

I purchased a site in Bangalore 1.5 years back from Mr.Nagaraju. The site is the self earned property of his father and he expired in 2004 without making a will or gifting the site to any of his children. He has 5 children - 3 sons and 2 daughters. Mr. Nagaraju who sold me the site has a Release deed in his favor from 2 of his brothers. The family also has other property - few more sites and agricultural land which are not sold to anyone.

Mr. Nagaraju while selling the site gave me a family tree signed/verified by the village accountant showing only 3 brothers as the legal heirs to his father. Considering this I bought the site after legal opinion. Now the 2 daughters have put a case on me and the 3 brothers for a share in this property. And the 2 sisters also have put a separate litigation on the agricultural land as well of the family as well.

The 2 daughters approached me for compromise and asking 5 Lakhs. I have 2 questions:

1. Is it better to go for a compromise or fight the case in the court. Do I have any chance of winning?

2. What rights does the Daughter-in-law and the grand children's have in this property? Can they also put a litigation on this property in the future?

Thank you,

Sunil

Thanks for your suggestion.

After I close this case by compromise, can the daughter-in-laws and grand children claim share in the property and raise another case. What precautions should I take?

Can you please point to the IPC section which has these rules stated.

Thanks,

Sunil
