The Employees' Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 (EPF Act) applies to any establishment with 20 or more employees in certain industries. The act also applies to any establishment that the Central Government specifies by notification in the official Gazette, even if the number of employees is less than 20.

Establishments that are not required to register by law can register voluntarily. The registration process is free and online, but it requires detailed documentation

As per the EPF Act, a Section 8 company with employees receiving more than ₹15,000/- p.m. can enroll them in the EPF scheme, but there are certain conditions: 1. _Voluntary enrollment_: Employees earning above ₹15,000/- p.m. can voluntarily enroll in the EPF scheme. 2. _MD's enrollment_: The MD's enrollment is not mandatory, but if they enroll, they must contribute to the EPF. 3. _Enrollment criteria_: All employees, including the MD, must meet the eligibility criteria. 4. _Withdrawal of enrollment_: Enrollment can be withdrawn only if the employee is no longer eligible or if the company is exempted from EPF scheme. To withdraw enrollment, the company must: 1. _Apply to EPFO_: Submit a formal application to the EPFO. 2. _Meet conditions_: Fulfill the conditions specified in the EPF Scheme, 1952. 3. _Obtain approval_: Get approval from the EPFO for withdrawal.
