Left job without serving notice period

Dear sir, I joined a recruitment firm last year on 24th October 2016 and left job on 31st may 2017,due to unavoidable circumstances and didn't serve the notice period,now the company is asking me to pay an amount of 20,000 for the same.I have neither signed any bond with them nor received confirmation letter from them after completing 6 months. Regarding the Full and final from companies side,I am not interested in having it neither would take job in the same field in future.So,please guide me whether I am supposed to give this amount or not. With regards

What about your appointment letter and what are clauses mentioned in the appointment letter related to Notice period / confirmation etc with out those details difficult to suggest.

Notice period is part of service conditions that are governed by various enactments, also.

Although you have posted some information; still, while posting such queries employee should post basic information!

What is this establishment; Commercial, Industrial?

What is its nature of business say; IT, ITeS? How many persons are employed in it?

What is your designation and nature of duties? How many persons report to you? Do you have any power to sanction leave/increment/appoint/terminate/appraise etc etc ?

You are in which state?

Since how many months you are working?

Do standing orders (model/certified) apply to establishment and your designation?

What is notice period as per appointment letter/offer letter and what was notice period tendered by you in notice of resignation?

Are you under probation period or your service is confirmed in writing?

Was ever any stinker, memo, show cause notice on any misconduct issued to you?

Are you a member of employee’s/trade unions?

 Has the establishment issued/supplied, offer letter, appointment letter, salary slips of all months, PF number and a/c slips of all years, ESIC card, correct FnF statement, acknowledgment and acceptance of notice of resignation/final resignation, acknowledgment of handover of charge, NOC/NDC……………?  

 

Has company asked you to pay in writing?
