Istanbul's Islamic Intent: Foreign Policy of Turkey-7

Istanbul's Islamic Intent

 Foreign Policy of Turkey-7

-DR. ABDUL RUFF

_______________

ONE

One of the most important developments in contemporary foreign policy arena is the changing pattern of Turkish foreign policy actions in recent years. A sparkling change in Turkish external behavior was spotted when new Turkish government of Justice and Development Party (AKP) openly defended the Islamic dress code and then very recently criticized Israeli state terrorism in Palestine and its threats to entire Mideast

Turkey’s foreign policy has been changing for the better, actively embarking upon a proactive role in Mideast and Islamic world in general. In keeping with stale ties between them, Turkey pursues a pro-Qaddafi policy over the popular uprising in Libya. Ankara has for the first time for decades openly opposed Zionist terror operations in Palestine, causing severe tensions in Tel-Aviv. Libya, like Turkey, is vocal in condemning the Israeli terror activities; including air strikes inside Palestine as well as the terror blockades thereby cause unbearable strains for the besieged Palestinians. Both US CIA and Israeli Mossad are annoyed with both Turkey and Libya.

Foreign policy statements made by Turkish leaders clearly reflect the unique ties Istanbul has developed over years with a friendly Libya. Turkey-Libya relations have been positive for many years now with ever increasing trade ties between them and Turkish policy towards insurgency like wise is also positive. Turkey supports Libya and its leader Col. Qaddafi in this hour of foreign engineered crisis in the country where many people have lost lives – this is a shot in the anti-Islamic western terror arms, because they have ganged up against Islam and Islamic nations. Turkey has shocked its western allies by its firm stand in the debate of NATO terror syndicate on the involvement of the notorious UNSC in the form of sanctions or possible military intervention has set Turkey apart from Western policy.

Western conspiracy against Islam and strong Muslim powers Western powers has its own history. Not only USA-UK terror twins kept Turkey under their control, but somehow they had also managed to keep Turkey out of the veto regime of the Security Council when it was created following the WW-II to ostensibly “create peaceful atmosphere” in the world. But UNSC is now a notorious organization promoting arms deals and state terrorisms. Now Turkey's pro-Libya diplomacy has set in motion a truly pro-active diplomatic frame of former Ottoman Empire.

 TWO

Unilateral dictatorial power USA continue to control the entire world by penetrating  into global intelligence outfits and military networks and has already established  formidable terror bases across the world. Spread its poisonous tentacles across the globe, the all-pervasive terror organization known as CIA (with most secret global agendas) and its media war lords are deadly keen to destabilize Libya and punish Col. Qaddafi for his anti-America stand for years before they eventually came closer.

Ahead of the UNSC meeting last week, where the naughty UNSC decided to impose a range of economic sanctions against the Libyan people, innocent looking President B. Obama telephoned Erdogan to discuss the developments - for support, but the Turkish government stressed that Turkey would not support any action that could be considered in contravention of the principle of “nonintervention in domestic affairs” and Turkey would prefer that international involvement remained limited to providing humanitarian assistance. Erdogan expressed his strong opposition to sanctions, arguing that sanctions did not work in the past and they would hurt only the people. Interestingly, he called on the international community and Western countries to approach the Libyan issue from a humanitarian perspective, not on the basis of oil interests.

When the demonstration expressing solidarity with the Egyptians and Tunisians started to spread across Libya, dramatically turning into anti-Qaddafi protest, incited by foreign agencies, the fate of Turkish investments and workers in the country was the main concern shaping Ankara’s response. Turkey was fully confident about Libyan support for its assets. Turkish investments in the country were guaranteed by the Libyan government and their first priority would be to ensure the physical safety of Turkish citizens. With the rapid deterioration of the situation, the Turkish government launched perhaps the largest evacuation operation in history, through the utilization of aircraft and ferries. The Turkish opposition criticized the government for failing to openly condemn Gaddafi’s brutal use of force against insurgents who want to destabilize the nation and steel the oil and sell it abroad illegally.

All anti-Islamic forces and their terror media quickly adopted harsh and crude language critical of President Qaddafi and the Libyan government because Qaddafi refused to take the orders directly from Washington and run away and Tunisian president has done but Turkey is not impressed by these gimmicks. Istanbul clearly stated the NTO has no role in Libya stressing that any foreign involvement would further complicate the situation in Libya. (“What does NATO have to do in Libya?”). Erdogan has implied that the West was driven by material interests, rather than genuine humanitarian considerations about the Libyan people.

THREE

Friendly tone of Libya-Turkey popular ties would further grow in coming years and already thousands of Libyans live in Turkey. The ties are growing in construction fields with signing major contracts since the 1970’s in the Libyan market. Over 20,000 Turkish people are living in Libya, mostly employed in the construction sector. During his visit to Libya in 2009, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a firm effort to further improve economic ties with Libya, as part of Turkey’s proactive foreign trade strategy of gaining new markets for businesses abroad. In recent years, Turkey’s exports to this country also increased, reaching $2 billion in 2010. Turkish firms undertook projects worth over $15 billion in recent years. With the lifting of international sanctions against Libya in the early 2000’s, the construction industry experienced a new boom, as well as creating fresh business opportunities.

Obviously, Turkey could have gone ahead with its collaborative activities with West and Israel for more beneficial profitable economic ties and Israel supplied weapons to Turkey and kept the Muslim nations under continuous check for decades now. By renouncing its ties with Zionist regime and expressing divergent views on Libya, Turkey has in deed showcased it Islamic intent. In fact Israel ties all its earlier gimmicks to bring back Ankara into Zionist clutches, but Turkey refused to budge and went ahead with its plan for Gaza aid-ship resulting in the Zionist terror attack on the sailors on the aid-ship. The Turkish message is now loud and clear.

Support of Turkey for Col. Qaddafi comes against all predictions by the quarters concerned that Ankara would oppose Libyan leader in favor of European applause and stand by the improper stand taken by EU position n the issue. In fact many European nations expect EU to take the position of Turkey on Libya. Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini firmly believes that the EU would have played a more active role in the ongoing conflict in the Mideast. Iran and Venezuela also have been arguing that the West is seeking to capitalize on the unrest in the country to re-colonize Libya, or occupy it to extract its oil.

Turkey’s policy is firm and diverged from the US or Western position. Even on the NATO imposition of a no fly zone over sovereign Libyan airspace with the US having boosted its naval presence in the Mediterranean, Turkey took a firm divergent stand.

The contradictory approaches to Libyan crisis by Turkey and its western allies have demonstrated policy differences and ideological dissonance between Turkey and its western allies that have misused Istanbul against Islamic world, against Palestine. Historically, Turkey, the only Muslim power in Europe, has taken just the European position even against its own beliefs, but with changing perceptives of globalization drive against Islam by the USA and Europe, Turkish  people opted to go Islamic way without harming its ties with Western world- after all it is an European power. Turkey’s categorical objection to any sanctions or international terror intervention reflects the changing phase of Turkish foreign policy more towards Islamization of Turkey further and also Islamic world.

Terrorism is caused by anti-Islamic forces. Fake democracies like USA and India have zero tolerance to any criticism of their anti-Muslim and other aggressive practices. Anti-Muslimism and anti-Islamism are more dangerous than  "terrorism". Anti-Islamic forces & terrorists are using criminal elements for terrorizing the world and they are harming genuine interests of ordinary Muslims. Unfortunately, we have many hypocrites among Muslims. (abdulruff_jnu@yahoo.com/91-9961868309)
