Is this a criminal offence and are we in trouble?

Hello everyone,

Here's my problem:

My uncle participated in a TV quiz game show using my name. Quite shockingly, he won (in my name). Naturally, there's been quite a hype and he was interviewed by the print and TV media. Oddly, all this time, he never bothered to correct his error. (All the photos and videos are his with my name. Just the name is mine, all other details are his.) Now he wants to have the cheque in my name.

I don't mind if he uses my name for publicity or receiving the cheque.

But my primary cause for concern is that, is there any chance of the channel people refusing to pay or take any legal action as he used my name instead of hers? That's the part I'm worried most about.

In short, can my uncle or me be facing any legal problem because of this mistake?

I'm very worried and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Channel may refuse to pay saying that it is cheating by personation. But in fact such personation has no impact on quiz as the answering person is well known] and if he/she is hiding his name does not affect the quiz.

But there may be some troulbe.

Thanks for the reply!

If anyone should be angry in this case, it should be me! But to be honest, this involves my benefit as well, as my uncle promised to give me 10% of the money that gets transferred to my account. So, technically, even if my uncle has impersonated me, its for my benefit. Besides, the entire amount is transfered to my name, why shall I be angry? I don't have any problem if he uses my name.

So currently, I have no objection if my uncle impersonates me. And I can give a written declaration as well. Do you think that will be sufficient to get the money? Besides the risk of not receiving the money, is there any other risk (i.e. imprisonments, fine etc.)?

All we want is that the money comes to us and both of us remain unharmed in every way. Is it possible?

P.S. There has been sufficient publicity and everyone around us know that my uncle has won the money not me.
