Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 is for Hindus domiciled in India, it’s for Hindu customary, religious marriage and for adjudication of various issues/disputes raised between the couple after the Hindu marriage.
The Special Marriage Act,1954 is for any person living in India, it’s for Civil marriage between two individuals irrespective of their religion and for adjudication of various issues/disputes raised between the couple after the Civil marriage solemnized or/and registered under the Act.
