Harassment and blackmailing

Dear Sirs, A known person got hold of my signed blank cheque and started harassing by asking for money, otherwise he would present the cheque and when it bounces, I would be in trouble. I checked in this forum on the cheque bounce case issues and found that even if I file a lost cheque with the police and stop payment with the bank, I would still be responsible for the signed blank cheque. Hence somehow I paid him Rs 50000 that he wanted and got the cheque back. But now, he continues to threaten me that I still owe him some more money. Right now he does not have any cheques of mine with him, But he says he has recorded some previous phone calls when he was asking me money for the cheque and says he will file a police complaint. Please advise on what should I do. He is now calling me many times every day and is harassing me with this issue. Please help. Thanks.

File NC before police station for extortion of money, blackmailing you, police will inquire with him and issues got solved. Dont worry about this bullsh*t. The cheque is in your possession and if he will produce said phone calls it will show that he was blackmailing you and that why you gave money.

Sir,

You record his calls and ensure that he repeats again and again about the threats and all.

File a comaplaint against him thereafter.

Warm Regards

dear arun if you dont owe any laibility to pay money to the possessor of the blank cheque you dont need to pay him anything as he cant file cheque bounce case against you.now you say you have paid him rs 50000 for him to return the blank cheque.

file a case of cheating u/s 420 ipc and also sec385 ipc for extortion against him.also record the threatenings he makes you and keep it as a proof

Thank you Mr Sagar, Mr Kapil and Mr Saravvanan for your kind advice. My worry as per few of my friends  is that if I go to file a complaint, the police may start extracting money from me as I have already been cheated by this person. Is that a possibility or should I approach this through a lawyer. Please help. - Arun.

if you find so then make a private complaint with the magistrate court
