Fraud/scam

On January 17, 2017, I received a call from one of my relatives friend who said that he will be able to help in providing me a loan of Rs 10 Lakhs under the NREGA scheme. He asked me to provide my KYC details and fill a form sent by email and upload all the documents after signing. I did this and he said it was approved the next day. He then asked me to pay for the insurance of Rs 8000 against the loan by 20th of Jan. I did pay him for that. He said I will receive the amount transferred to my bank account soon, He then said the amount couldn't be transferred and he is arranging to send a Draft to me by courier (from Delhi). I stay in Vasai West (near Mumbai). The courier didn't arrive. Later he stopped responding for few days and then sent SMS to me saying the amount could not be disbursed and he is going to refund the Rs 8000 taken from me. But till today I didn't receive the refund. So my query is will I be able to get the money after lodging an FIR and what steps do I need to take to get my money back. Francis

Which amount you are referring to Rs.8,000/- ? expenses.

Do you remember and kept a copy of such application.  Please ensure stopping misuse of your name and forget about Rs.8,000/- as it is penalty for your ambition.  There is no such Bank that can provide assistance / entire borrrowed amount  just by demand draft and that too without any securities to an extent of Rs.10 lakhs.  Be practical and try to recover the amount from friend/relative through your family relations.  Even if you lodge FIR, people may make fun of you and as the borrower is not residing locally there may be jurisdictional problems.  You will be wasting further time, mental  peace and good money for the bad money..

This is neither a fraud nor a scam affecting public  but cheating a trusted friend who is over ambitious.

Agreeing with Mr Prasad I will add that the given facts, as descirbed by you indicate that perhaps you were interested to get a loan without procedure (fraudulently) and you wanted it through tout, as you said you did not approach the concerned deptt/bgank directly and teh tout hapened to be smarter and you got cheated.  SO now keep quite.
