A friend has a house ( market price Rs 45 lakh) and wants to make his wife co-owner of the property. How can he achieve this without having to incur too much expenses on stamp duty, registration fee etc. It will be helpfu if you could also quantify the payments he will have to make. The only possibility is by a gift deed duly registered. Since your friend is in Hyderabad the rate of stamp duty and registration charges is 3.5% of the guideline value of the property

Execute the regd., rights relinquish deed of half portion in the name of wife or let him make regd., gift deed. Stamp duty is minimum.
