Filing of annual returns to registrar of societies tamilnadu

The charitable trust is registered under Income tax act and they are filing returns every year. There is no Trust Act in Tamilnadu. But the Registrar of Societies, tamilnadu wanted us fo file annual returns enclosing the financials of the last year. we seek your opinion in this regard.
