Does academic certificates falls under public Public documen

Does Academic certificates like School leaving certificate and mark sheet etc; falls under Public Documents under the Indian evidence Act?

Yes. I think they come under S.74 of Indian Evidence Act and are 'public documents'.

Thanks Suchitra, but the original documents are already with the students in their private custody?

A first copy of public record in the form of marks card or school leaving certificate will be in the possession of individuals. But in case if one needs a duplicate copy , they have to apply for the same to the concerned authority who can only give the same writing on it as 'duplicate copy'. No body else can do that as they are public records under the custody of public authority.
