Do we even need to reply

Hello, need advise

My father a doctor, general practitioner by profession passed away a year back, now one of his staff members had worked with him for 30 years ,  has been asking for lots of money.

My father had made a will and he did not mention the staff member in the will.

Now the staff member has send a lawyer notice seeking compensation, do we ignore it, or do we reply?  If we should reply , what are we bound to pay him.  As a good will gesture my mother had offered him some money which he refused.

If your father did not mention the staff member in his will, How come his right to claim will arise ?

I agree and was wondering if I need to even reply to this lawers letter , or just ignore this as you pointed out he has no case , as far as I am conserned.
