Divorce procedure for nri in india

Hello I and my wife need mutual divorce and we do not have kids. No disputes and claims. We both are Legal residents in USA and we got married in INDIA and registered marriage in INDIA and currently both Indian citizens.

So We need divorce in India rather than taking USA . So can we do power of attorney in india and file divorce while in USA.

Also how much time frame it takes to complete divorce .

You can file mutual divorce in India, by power of attorney by authorising preferably the family member for filing. After filling, first motion is granted and 6 months time is given to rethink consent of divorce, after that 2nd motion of 6 to 18 months starts and both parties have to be present to confirm their consent by recording their statements in the court.
