A piece of agricultural but not under cultivation land I purchased in early nineties in Raigad district, Maharashtra has been slapped with a reservation as private forest land preventing any non-forest activity. The property was not under any reservation when I originally bought it. I understand that the reservation has arisen out of Supreme Courts (ill advised) activism to allegedly protect forest cover in the country. I understand that several parties whose land has become so embroiled have filed a review petition (or some such, or a PIL, perhaps) in the Supreme Court. Godrej is one of the parties as I am informed.
Can anyone throw some light on this?
