‘IA’ stands for Interlocutory Applications, which has been defined by High Courts in India in their respective civil rules of practice.
For example: The Andhra Pradesh Civil Rules of Practice and Circular Orders, 1990 (https://districts.ecourts.gov.in/sites/default/files/civilrulescircularorders_0_0.pdf) defines interlocutory application as an application to the court in any suit, appeal or proceedings already instituted in such court, other than a proceeding for execution of a decree or order.
In layman’s terms, any application made to a court, in a matter already being heard by that very court, praying for an interim order and not a final order or judgment is an interlocutory application.
“IA Pending” stands for the court has adjourned a matter on the day of hearing and is yet to pronounce the interlocutory (interim) order.
